What is the full form of IB? The full form of IB is the Intelligence Bureau. IB is an Indian internal intelligence service that especially deals with internal tasks & intelligence. Intelligence Bureau provides information about suspicious activities to other intelligence agencies and police to protect the country.

History of IB

IB was formed in 1887 to monitor on Russian-troops deployed in Afghanistan. Being the oldest intelligence agency in India it was re-crafted at the time of independence in 1947 by the Indian government. There is one subsidiary unit of the IB which is known as the Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau. It works at the state level and is headed and managed by an officer of the rank of Joint Director or above.
